Green Truck is an organic and environmentally friendly food truck that travels through the Los Angeles area and is available for event catering. The Green Truck mission is simple: Heal the planet one meal at a time.

Green Truck is able to identify as being “green” for a few notable reasons. Their trucks runs on veggie oil, and recycled veggie oil at that. The oil they use for cooking the food becomes the bio-diesel that fuels their trucks the following day.

They utilize solar power in their commissary kitchen and all of their utensils and packaging are completely compostable, which means no plastic or Styrofoam on Green Truck. They also send their composted materials back to the farms from which they source their ingredients to further maintain the spirit of sustainability. All of the ingredients used by Green Truck are purchased either from organic farms or from local farmers markets, and the wonderful fact is, in Los Angeles, a farmers market can be found on any day of the week.

One aspect of Green Truck that some might consider to be a point against them is that the cost of a meal is somewhat higher than that of the average food truck. When I spoke with Green Truck’s manager, Madeline DeCourtey, she presented this matter as being an extension of the Green Truck mission. The goal is not aimed at providing the cheapest product but providing a quality product that is not only friendly to the environment but friendly to the bodies of the customers themselves. By eating at Green Truck you are making the active choice to pay a little extra for that green goodness, and it’s worth it.

Green Truck is certified organic they also offer delicious vegan menu options. The menu has two burger choices, the first is the Chipotle Cheddar Burger that features grass-fed beef, and the second is the Mother Trucker Vegan Burger that is completely vegan and gluten-free. Take the opportunity to try one or both with a fresh and non-greasy side of sweet potato fries.

The vegan burger creates a flavorful vegan patty that has an appealing texture made from sprouted garbanzo, mushrooms, onions, kale, carrots and oat flour. To keep it gluten-free they load the burger up with veggies and serve it on a soft potato bun.

Green Truck adds flavor with their Trucker Sauce, which combines house-made ketchup, veganaise and beet puree for a hot pink sauce that’s delicious and unique. Their menu also offers a kale and quinoa bowl and a chicken pesto sandwich for those looking for an alternative to burgers.
